PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD)

Why Discover Scuba Diving?
The PADI Discover Scuba Diving program lets you experience the thrill of diving under the supervision of a PADI Professional in confined pool like conditions. During your adventure, you'll master some basic concepts and scuba skills and then head off to experience an open water adventure dive.

What do I need to start?

  • Minimum age: 10
  • A completed and signed Discover Scuba Diving brochure

What will I do?
When you participate in a Discover Scuba Diving program, you discover excitement and adventure - freedom and serenity. Nothing compares to the "weightless" exhilaration of breathing underwater. Only a diver knows the feeling!

How long will it take?
Get ready to dive today. Whether you watch the short PADI Discover Scuba video, or are briefed with the Discover Scuba Diving Flip Chart, you'll enter the water quickly and ready for your scuba adventure, course lasts approximately 3 - 4 hours.

PADI Open Water Diver Course

Now is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with PADI, the dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community.

Why PADI Open Water?
As a certified PADI Open Water Diver, the most widely recognized and respected rating in the world, you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. If you already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program.

What do I need to start?
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. You must be older than the age of 14 to begin the PADI Open Water Diver program. For those of you who are not above the age of 14 and would like to participate in the PADI Open Water Diver Program, then the PADI Jr Open Water Diver program is available to you. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available.

  • A PADI Jr Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 11 years may only dive with a PADI Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 meters/40 feet.

What will I do?
Throughout the course, you’ll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You earn this rating by completing confined/pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water ocean dives.

How long will it take?
PADI programs are performance based, the course lasts 3 to 4 days.

Standards require that all students must have a Current copy of the Open Water Manual on starting this course, a log book and RDP table or wheel.

PADI Adventure / Advanced Open Water Course

Move up and experience real adventure with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course. As you step beyond the PADI Open Water Diver level, you make five dives and have the opportunity to try some of diving’s most rewarding and useful specialty activities, such as deep diving, digital underwater photography, wreck diving and much more.

These skills make diving much more than underwater sightseeing. Plus, the Advanced Open Water Diver course takes you one step closer to Master Scuba Diver – the ultimate non professional certification in recreational diving.

With your PADI Instructor you complete the deep and underwater navigation Adventure Dives. These dives boost your confidence as you build these foundational skills.

Then, you choose three additional dives from more than 15 Adventure Dives to complete your course. You can go diving at night, check out the local wrecks in the area or even fly through the ocean on a diver propulsion vehicle – all during your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course.

This course consists of 5 dives, 2 mandatory/core dives Deep (to 30m) and compass Navigation and 3 that are chosen by the diver from a vast range of options such as: wreck, night, boat, fish identification, drift diving and many more.

  • Must be a PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization) and 15 years old (12 for Junior Advanced Open Water Diver) 
  • Number of dives: Five dives 
  • Adventure Dive options include altitude diving, AWARE-fish identification, boat diving, deep diving, diver propulsion vehicle use, drift diving, dry suit diving, multilevel and computer diving, night diving, peak performance buoyancy, search and recovery, underwater nature study, underwater navigation, underwater photography, underwater videography and wreck diving
  • Each Adventure Dive in the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course may credit toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver course
  • Materials: Adventures in Diving manual.

Standards require that all students must have a Current copy of the Adventures in Diving Manual on starting this course.

Emergency First Respond

As one of the foremost international CPR and first aid training companies, Emergency First Response gives you the confidence to respond to medical emergencies -- not just in the diving world, but in your every day world with your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers too.

Emergency First Response courses encompass:

  • CPR for adults, children and infants
  • First aid for adults, children and infants
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training
  • The Emergency First Response Instructor and Instructor Trainer courses

Duration is between 4 to 6 hours.

PADI Rescue Diver Course

Challenging and rewarding best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course.

This course will expand your knowledge and experience level. Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers.

Although this course is challenging, it is a rewarding way to build your confidence. Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. Many divers say this is the best course they’ve ever taken. You'll cover:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Panicked diver response
  • In-water rescue breathing protocols
  • Egress (exits)
  • Dive accident scenarios

Progressing from Advanced Open Water this course will mainly focus on assisting others in need in the world of diving.

Set over 3-4 days this course will put you in various different and taxing scenarios and teach you how best to deal with each situation. You will learn how to best take control of a situation should it arise as well as how to prevent problems from happening before they arise.

The PADI Rescue Diver Course must be taken before you are allowed to progress to the first professional level of diving The Divemaster Course.

Standards require that all students must have a Current copy of the Rescue Diver Manual on starting this course.

PADI Divemaster

This is the first PADI Professional level. PADI Divemasters will supervise/lead diving activities for certified divers and assist PADI Instructors with training student divers.

Take the first step in your dive career and become a PADI Divemaster. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, you'll expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills as you become a dive professional. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities by training you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers.

A Divemaster will have exemplary diving skills/knowledge, solid rescue skills, and professional level knowledge of dive theory, dive management and supervision abilities as well as being competent as an instructors assistant.

Minimum time needed is 2 - 12 weeks and you must have logged at least 60 certified dives by the end of the course, however we recommend you take at least 8 weeks to complete the course

What can PADI Divemasters do?

  • Work at local dive centers, on live-aboard dive boats, yachts and at exotic resort locations
  • Assist PADI Instructors with students
  • Lead PADI Scuba Divers on guided dive tours
  • Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers
  • Teach PADI Discover Snorkeling programs
  • Conduct PADI Scuba Review programs for certified divers
  • Lead certified divers on Discover Local Diving experiences
  • Teach Emergency First Response programs after successful completion of an Emergency First Response Instructor course.

After the PADI Divemaster course you can either choose to continue onto the PADI Assistant Instructor or the PADI Instructor course.

Standards require that all students must have a current copy of all manuals from Open water up to and including the Divemaster Manual.

PADI Assistant Instructor / PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program is your final step in the quest to become a PADI Instructor. During the IDC, you'll learn to use and adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs. Comprehensive training, supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers. PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors may conduct a broad range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba to Divemaster

OWSI rating is the first PADI Instructor level attained by dive professionals. During this course you will review PADI Standards, procedures, philosophies and teaching methods as well as hone their practical teaching ability and diving skills.

After successfully completing a PADI Instructor Examination (IE), OWSI's take responsibility for introducing people to scuba diving through various PADI programs and courses.

Teaching status PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors may conduct the entire range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba up to Divemaster (excluding specialty courses)

Minimum time needed 2 weeks and over 100 logged and certified dives.

PADI Specialty Courses

How far will you take this diving thing? It's up to you.

With PADI Specialty Diver Programs you can chart your course for a colorful collection of awesome dives. Sure, your PADI certification opens up the oceans and lakes to you, but the PADI Specialty Dives take the underwater adventure to depths that will stir your soul.

Achieving PADI Specialty ratings can take anywhere from as little as one day to a full weekend -but this is all hands-on, so you'll be diving right from the start.

What is the PADI Master Scuba Diver Certification?

This certification denotes that you've reached the highest recreational diver level in the PADI System of diver education. PADI Master Scuba Diver indicates you have a significant amount of training and experience in a variety of dive environments.

What do I need to start?

  • PADI Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • PADI Rescue Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
  • 50 logged dives
  • Five PADI Specialty course certifications
  • Minimum age: 15 years old (12 for Junior Master Scuba Diver)

Where can I go from here?

The PADI Master Scuba Diver certification is the highest recreational level in the PADI system of diver education. But, you don't have to stop there! You can continue on to become a PADI Professional. As a Master Scuba Diver you'll be well qualified to begin your training as a PADI Divemaster.
